Havering Volunteer Centre announce its first Jackpot Winner!

Havering Volunteer Centre are a vital lifeline to this borough. Throughout the pandemic, this group of volunteers led by the incredible Shelley, were always there to support our emergency services and Havering community during the challenging times. Throughout the years, they have supported hundreds across Havering and many other boroughs and their work has really proven to be essential to so many in our community.

They were pleased to obtain the first local lottery for Havering and now are proud to say they have had their first winner!

Last week HVC announced the news that they had their first First Jackpot Winner who has scooped an incredible £25,000. Here is what the winner had to say:

“I signed up to the Havering Local Lottery on a whim, just really to support the YMCA, never did I think that I would win the Jackpot. 

I am the kind of person that gets excited at winning a fiver on the National Lottery so winning £25,000 on the Havering Local Lottery is just unreal! 

I would encourage everyone to sign up, it’s great knowing you are helping out a local good cause but to actually win a prize, is just the best feeling.” – Jackpot Winner 

The Havering Local Lottery Jackpot Winner signed up to support The YMCA Thames Gateway Group who are the largest and oldest charity working with young people. YMCA Thames Gateway provides support to the local community through health and fitness programmes, family and children services and youth work.

When Havering Volunteer Centre was approached to launch the Havering Local Lottery they jumped at the opportunity. With fundraising and charitable giving at an all-time low, they knew that local charities and community groups would need the extra support that the Local Lottery could provide. 

It’s the little charitable expenses that we all tend to forget about; the stationery or printing bill, the coffee for the social club, even down to the loo roll. Being part of this lottery gives good causes the opportunity to support their income streams enabling them to concentrate on delivering services to the community.

Since launching in July 2024, Havering Volunteer Centreis on track to support local causes in raising over £16,000. Havering Local Lottery is an online sustainable fundraising solution with, believe it or not, no upfront costs.
